# EM Keep (EM) > EM Keep saves the WhatsApp chats you don't want to lose and brings back messages from this day, years ago. EM Keep, also called EM, is a private WhatsApp memory app at emkeep.com: import exported chats to rediscover real messages as daily "on this day" memories, keep voice notes with Premium, and create shareable WhatsApp chat recaps with EM Replay. It works in a browser on iPhone, Android and computers. Encrypted before it leaves your device. Only you can read your memories. Official website: https://emkeep.com/. EM helps people revisit conversations with friends, partners and family, remember someone who has died, hear saved WhatsApp voice notes, and celebrate anniversaries or birthdays with a chat recap. Memories use the actual imported messages and recordings, not AI-generated replacements. EM is made by Chantal in memory of her best friend, Emma. EM is independent and is not made by, affiliated with or endorsed by WhatsApp or Meta. "WhatsApp Wrapped" describes the chat-recap experience offered by EM Replay; it is not an official WhatsApp feature. EM Replay is not affiliated with Spotify. EM runs as a web app and can be added to the home screen on iPhone and Android. There is no native EM app in the App Store or Google Play. An account is required to keep memories or make a Replay; creating an account is free, and a public sample Replay is available. To keep a conversation in EM, export it from WhatsApp on iPhone or Android and import the .txt or .zip file. Export with media and select "Include voice messages" to keep the available voice notes with EM Premium. EM imports text and, optionally, voice notes; it does not import photos or videos. EM never connects directly to your WhatsApp account. Updates are manual: import a newer export to add messages. Re-uploading under the same chat name merges the history without using another chat slot. EM can only work with messages and audio present in the files you provide. WhatsApp exports may be incomplete. EM cannot recover deleted or missing messages, restore a WhatsApp backup, put an exported chat back into WhatsApp, or transfer a live chat to another phone. EM is not a replacement for WhatsApp backups or an independent copy of your original export; keep those separately somewhere private. The main memory app supports one-to-one and group chats. EM Replay currently supports only a chat between two people, not groups. Replay can cover the full imported chat, a single year, or a custom date-range chapter when paid for or included with Premium. Its statistics include message counts, busiest periods, top emoji, frequently used words and longest messaging streak. Its "chat personality" is a playful label such as "The Night Owl". Word-based screens are tuned for English; other languages may be less accurate. Replay can be personalised with a title, dedication, up to four phrases to count and a visual theme. Selected cards can be saved as images or a video to share. Cards containing your actual words start unselected, so you choose whether to include them. When a chat is marked as memories of someone who has died, EM uses gentler wording and leaves out more playful fact cards for that chat. EM Basic is free: up to 3 imported chats, 2 journal entries a day, unlimited random-day visits, 3 word searches to start and then 1 a month, and 43 categories of daily fact cards. EM Premium costs EUR 2.99 a month or EUR 24.99 a year: Up to 5 imported chats, unlimited journal entries, visits to a specific date, a word search every day, all 60 categories of fact cards, voice notes and unlimited Replays. These are chat-count allowances, not message-count limits; EM does not impose a message-count limit per chat, but the source export may omit older content. EM Replay: your first 2 Replays are free with a free EM account and can cover the full chat or a single year, including the title, dedication, custom phrases and all five visual themes. A custom date-range chapter, or an additional Replay after the free allowance, is EUR 1.99 each as a one-off payment. Editing a paid Replay does not cost again. Premium includes unlimited Replays with custom chapters. Replay allowances are separate from imported-chat allowances: making a Replay does not require saving the source chat in EM. Deleting an imported chat frees its slot. Moving from Premium to Basic does not delete imported chats: the 3 chats added first stay in the daily deck, and the others remain readable on the Loved page but do not appear in the daily deck while over the free limit. Message content, journal entries and voice-note audio are encrypted in your browser with AES-256-GCM before upload. Your plaintext master encryption key is not sent to EM; EM stores only encrypted copies of it, one locked with your password and one with your recovery phrase. Chat names are not stored as text: EM keeps only a fingerprint of each name, made with your key. Some metadata remains readable, including message dates and times, message types and counts, scheduling details, and certain Replay and account records. The Privacy Policy is the detailed source for what is and is not encrypted. Your Replay is made on your device. A source chat selected only to make a Replay is not uploaded unless you choose to keep it in EM; saved chats and saved Replay content are encrypted before upload. Account, entitlement and payment records can still be stored. EM does not use AI to generate memories or calculate chat statistics, and chat content is not sent to an AI model. Search uses plain text matching. Your password or recovery phrase can unlock your encrypted content. If you forget your password, you need your recovery phrase to recover access; EM cannot bypass the encryption.
